Happy new year, friends and frenemies! I hope you all had a lovely night, whatever you got up to. I spent New Year’s Day in the foetal position and tonight in the shower, I discovered a large and mysterious bruise on my knee. Good times!
So, a while back, I came across Sarah Yates’s blog, a house in the hills. It’s a really lovely space, full of bright photographs, healthy recipes and outfits that I would wear in another life in which I was way cooler than I am in this one. When Sarah posted the vision board that she had created, I was intrigued: imagine the life you want and it will manifest. It’s all very The Secret-esque, but while not being head over heels in love with the state of my life at the moment, I decided to create my own vision board for 2013.
Obviously, my skills do not lie in graphic design but you get the idea.
In 2013, I want love, travel, good times, to improve my style (image is everything), break a lifelong habit of nail biting, a place to call my own, health, a job with a publishing company – or perhaps to have a publisher, and to keep writing the novel. The images of text are reminders.
I’ve set this picture as my desktop wallpaper so that I can see it all the time. This is the life I want. This is the life I’m going to work for. They’re also kind of new year’s resolutions but nothing really specific that I’ll inevitably fail to achieve over the course of the year.
Do you have a vision board? Or are you making resolutions?
I like this. I want to be the me I am in my head this year. This means dressing, acting and behaving like I think I am not like how I have been. I think not being me has made me stressed.
ReplyDeleteIt means some big changes are coming but that though they terrify me sometimes I am super stoked to see how I feel come this time next year. Trying to be the authentic me. I think that is probably the biggest challenge I have ever set myself but hopefully it will be worth it.
Good luck with your challenge. I hope it works beautifully for you.
Oh, I love this vision board idea. I don't usually set resolutions but I do make goals for the year. A vision board is a perfect way to remind yourself of those goals. Sounds like this year is going to be a great one for you! :)
ReplyDeleteI've got some fitness goals I want to meet, and the obligatory "Get A's in all classes" of course. But no real personal goals I suppose. Well, except to find a volunteer job, but that's one thing.
ReplyDeleteI love the vision board idea though! I think you're fully capable of accomplishing all your goals this year! :D
I love your vision board! I have been mulling over the idea of making one (but then I think of all the time I waste on Pinterest, and really, isn't that just one big fat vision board?) Sigh. Maybe I am just being super lazy about putting together specific goals/resolutions this year ...
ReplyDeletelove it annelise! i hope it bring you all the inspiration you need. :) happy new year!
ReplyDeleteSuch a good idea to put it on your desktop! I'm excited for you and your goals. Think how awesome it's going to be when you are able to look at your desktop and start checking things off.
ReplyDeleteI have intentions. I am at some point going to make a lovely list of these, and put the physical one on a mirror and a photo on my desktop, following your genius idea.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very positive start!
I've never done a vision board, but I really like the idea of it!
ReplyDeletethis is so awesome! i love your vision board. and yesss...we should claim the life that we want and work towards it.
ReplyDeletehappy 2012, annelise! chhers! :)
Very creative, Annelise! You just gave me an idea on what my next wallpaper would look like. A collage of wallpapers that show different nature settings. Ahhh... Very relaxing to the eyes and inspiring as well, don't you think? Oh, and here's to 2013! *raising my glass of water – yes, just water, for now* Hihi! XP
